Innovation Engineering (IE) Project Manager

Project Manager Description

 The role of the Project Manager is to plan, execute, and finalize projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan. The Project Manager will also define the project’s objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle.


  • Lead the planning and implementation of the Innovation Engineering initiative
  • Study Oklahoma manufacturing data to identify target customers
  • Submit appropriate IE client companies for consideration for commercialization services through i2E and OCAST
  • Coach, mentor, and motivate field staff and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work
  • Implement and sustain sales training for field staff
  • Set and continually manage project expectations with field staff and other stakeholders
  • Develop strategic project plans and schedule project timelines
  • Monitor the defined project scope, goals and deliverables
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans
  • Manage project budget and resource allocation
  • Conduct project post mortems and create a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements
  • Deliver progress reports, proposals, requirement documentation, and presentations
  • Report on project progress to all stakeholders
  • Monitor Alliance IE client design projects with the New Product Development Center (NPDC)
  • Serve as liaison with Oklahoma colleges and universities for product development activities 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors’ Degree in related field of study
  • Minimum 3-5 years manufacturing experience
  • Proven successful experience in project management
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Persuasive, encouraging, and motivating
  • Proven experience in strategic planning
  • Proven experience in change management
  • Proficient with computer software systems for use in this assignment
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Planning and organizational skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Successful experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Able to conform to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Capable of gaining the audience of high-level executives in education, government, and corporations
