Judy McCombs named new
Manufacturing Extension Agent for Muskogee area
Judy McCombs is a new Manufacturing Extension Agent for the Oklahoma Manufacturing Alliance. McCombs will support companies in six eastern Oklahoma counties centered on the Muskogee area. She is one of 19 Manufacturing Extension Agents located in communities across the state.
Manufacturing Extension Agents are sponsored and supported by educational and economic development institutions to work full-time for the Manufacturing Alliance. McCombs is sponsored by Indian Capital Technology Center, Northeastern State University, and the Muskogee Port Authority.
Prior to joining the Alliance, McCombs owned her own consulting firm, McCombs and Associates providing marketing and economic development services to organizations in both the public and private sectors. Long-term accounts included the Muskogee Port Authority and the Arrowhead Development Corporation.
McCombs also served as an account executive for AT&T in Dallas and Oklahoma City. She managed sales teams and a regional territory for the Business Communication System Division. Corporate accounts included York International, Shaklee Corporation and the Good Year Tire Company. McCombs also served on international teams for Trammel Crow, Dresser Rand and Texas Instruments.
McCombs holds a BA, MA and MBA from Oklahoma State University. She graduated from the University of Oklahoma, Economic Development Institute in 2005 and earned the designation of Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) from the International Economic Development Council in 2009.
The Manufacturing Alliance is a not-for-profit economic development organization providing a variety of support to Oklahoma industry. Through its network of Manufacturing Extension Agents and Applications Engineers, the organization provides real, hands-on resources for improving productivity, increasing sales and reducing costs. The organization connects manufacturers to local expertise and state, regional and national resources. McCombs will serve manufacturers in Adair, Cherokee, McIntosh, Muskogee, Sequoyah, and Wagoner Counties.
The Manufacturing Alliance is a leader in the expansion of Lean Manufacturing. Lean dramatically transforms the way manufacturers do business, producing more with existing resources by eliminating non-value added activities. The Alliance also provides short-term engineering assistance as well as support with new product development. Aid is provided in the areas of market expansion and new market development along with exporting assistance. In addition, McCombs is trained by the Oklahoma Department of Commerce to evaluate and determine eligibility for state incentives like tax credits.
The Alliance assisted more than 400 Oklahoma manufacturers last year. The companies report they will increase sales by $183 million in the year following their work with the Manufacturing Alliance
